Essendon Maribyrnong Park is happy to announce the remaining coaching structure for the 2018-19 season. The coaching team will work under the recently appointed Coaching and Program Director Neil Gray (announced last month).
Returning from last season is former Queensland cricketer Lyndall Daley. Lyndall provides an excellent resource with her background in physical performance alongside her many years of experience at first class level. Her knowledge and fantastic attitude to development and growth of players has been invaluable over her first 12 months at the club and we are excited to again have her on board our coaching team.
Returning to a coaching role, and specifically focusing on the fielding skills of the overall group and mentoring of our younger players is Kristen Beams. A Bomber since 2006, ‘Beamsy’ has made an enormous contribution to our club on and off the field over the past 12 years. Her exceptional work ethic and knowledge of the game will be instrumental in the development of our youth.
EMP is also delighted to announce the signing of current Australian and Victorian Women’s Cricket team member Elyse Villani. A ‘frenemy’ of the club for many years through our long time cross creek rivalry with Brunswick Park, we are excited to welcome ‘Junior’ to the Bomber family! The significant benefit Elyse will bring however is also off the field, having recently completed her Level 3 coaching accreditation, she will take on a similar role to Beamsy and work with our batting group and younger players to help them achieve their cricketing aspirations. We also look forward to supporting Elyse as she dons the green and gold during the upcoming international summer.
The club is also lucky enough to have a number of other representative players and age group coaches at the club who will all contribute at different points during the season alongside a few specialist guest coach appearances.
EMP wishes to thank Ian Leach for his commitment and outstanding contribution to the club as an Assistant Coach in 2017-18. Unfortunately Ian is unable to continue in the role due to relocation but we hope to see him around the club when his time allows!
