Season Review: EMP's Indoor Cricket Team
Date of Event Essendon Maribyrnong Park Ladies Cricket Club: Fri Aug 30, 2019 12:36PM

1st XI player Chloe Rafferty reviews the season of EMP's Indoor Cricket team.

The 2019 National indoor cricket League came to unfortunate end for the Essendon Maribyrnong Park Ladies Cricket Club, missing out in the finals and finishing top 4 in the Victorian competition. The Bomber girls finished the season with 2 wins out of the 8 games played. Indoor cricket is developing and looking very successful for years to come in the female format. The competition includes national and international players, players like Alyssa Humphries representing Victoria in the U21 women’s division.

EMP playing in its second NICL introduced bright young talent from the western suburbs. Jenkison twins Fiona and Sarah, both players new to the indoor environment. The sisters were both courageous and loved the game, then decided to also give the National side a crack. Fiona Jenkison being successful, helping the U17 girls Victorian team reach victory and becoming National Champions. With the support of Chloe Rafferty playing an Assistant coaching role in the junior side.

The Bomber girls didn’t have the season they would’ve liked in the indoor atmosphere, but came out happy with their efforts. The bunch introduced new players to EMP but weren’t strangers. Brodie Whitmore past Victorian player and Australian representative in the over 30s was a great asset to the bomber side. Followed by other talented young females like Jordan Watson, Acacia Davis, Chloe Ip and Paris Rafferty, another Victorian and Australian representative. All playing their part on and off the court supporting Essendon Maribyrnong Park's developing Indoor cricket team.

On behalf of the players and myself would like to say a BIG Thank you to the cricket club for the support throughout the season and the opportunity to be able to be a part and grow this club in the National Indoor Cricket League. Encouraging all females to come give indoor cricket a go and have some fun with this amazing cricket club behind them.

See you on the court in 2020!
